Building Bigger Calves For Men

Building your calf muscle can be a real pain in the butt if you aren't putting the proper resistance to them on an ongoing basis. Each step that you take you place resistance which has built them up to become tolerant to high levels of stress being placed upon them. If you take a look back at my earlier photo's from the fall you'll see that i didn't have well developed calves when i was on stage. This off season i've placed a lot of focus on them to make them grow and stand out. They have also introduced a new "Mens Physique" division in Canada that require you to wear a pair of board shorts to the knees. This makes it even more important to make your legs standout with massive calves.

I believe that you must work your calves in a variety of rep ranges and with varying weight loads. Since you are walking on them constantly, they are very inclined to prolong exercise, so switching that up with resistance training is a must.

  • Seated Calf Raises
  • Standing Calf Raises
  • Single Legged Body Weight Calf Raises
  • Leg Press Calf Extensions
  • Machine Calf Extensions
  • Donkey Calf Raises
Sample Workout 
  • Standing Calf Raises 3 Sets of 15 Reps
  • Seated Calf Eaises 3 Sets of 10 Reps
  • Leg Press Calf Extensions 3 Sets of 20 Reps
