People in our society often forget what it really takes to achieve their goals and dreams. I don't think they are blind to it, but they just simply don't understand what it takes to make it to the final destination. When we dream big and set high goals for ourselves, we need to first set out a plan on how we'll get to the end point. It's not going to simply come if you don't put in the work that's needed. Some things might come quickly to you and other things will take time to materialize. Hard work and dedication day in and day out will allow you to inch closer and closer to your goals on a daily basis.
When you look at the culture of martial arts you can see what it takes to become a master at something or become really good. To obtain a black belt (Highest level) in a martial art, it typically takes people 5 years to reach that state. Some people will reach it sooner and others will reach it later, but the basis of the principle is that you need to put in 10,000 hours at it to become a master. So it's really up to you how much time and effort you want to put in to become that master. So if it's anything in your life from a sport, to a hobby such as carpentry, the masters of the craft have put in a large amount of time to become really good at what they do. These things don't simply fall into their laps from sitting on the couch, they would have had many ups and downs along the way but they continued on working their butts off everyday to be able to master the skills needed to achieve the highest level. I'm not saying to master everything in your life will take 10,000 hours, some will do it in less time, others will do it in more time, but as long as you use that as a guideline for your thinking and set your expectations off of that, you'll be able to keep focused on the journey.
I really like the quote in the image, and to be honest i took it from a facebook posting, so i don't know who to credit it towards, but the most important part of it is the last part of "Never Give Up". We all go through hard times and feel like giving up. For some this might be daily, but if we can continue to see the light at the end of the road, and have that path to guide us, it'll be all that much easier to make it to the end. Reaching that goal and being rewarded for our sacrifices.
