It's almost as if we have two separate motors that make us operate -The mind and the body. One directs the actions and the other responds as it delivers the actions. Knowing that one cannot work without the other is important as we are held together by the limits of the weakest link. We can only accomplish the greatest potential of your weaker motor. If the mind is weak, our body will only perform for a certain amount of time under ideal conditions. When things become uneasy or difficult all progress will instantly stop. The same goes for having a weak body, the mind can say push and pull but if the body doesn't react to the command then it's all for nothing.
Making sure that you have both of your motors working at the same pace will yield the best results that will allow you to perform to the best of your abilities. That basic principle will also give you self-satisfaction because you'll have reasonable expectations on the outcome. It's almost odd to think about the brain as a separate pice from the body but it truly is. It holds it's own powers that can be greater than the powers the body can give off. It can also generate energy fields that will set the stage for the surroundings that the body will perform in. Mental health is just as important as physical health and taking care of the brain will serve you well in all areas of your life.
As for the body, we all know that it's the brain that limits our potential abilities. When you workout and can't do one more rep, it's not the muscle that stops, it's the mind saying it can't do it. If your muscle had it's own processing unit, it would see that it is physically capable of doing one more rep.
In conclusion I believe that you must understand the 2 units and synchronize them to work as 1. This will allow you to reach your fullest potential.
